The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says there is no going back on the February 10, 2023 deadline for the swapping of the old N1,000, N500, and N200 notes. The Managing Director, Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Mr. Abimbola Akinajo, said the State Government had commenced the test running of the 13 km Lagos Blue Line Rail Service train. Akinajo disclosed this at the commencement of the test running in Lagos on Monday from Marina to Mile 2. She said that the exercise would last between two to three months, to enable Lagos residents to enjoy the free ride before commencing the full rail operation in April. Police source in Durban has confirmed that the South African rapper, Kiernan Forbes known as ‘AKA’ has been shot dead in a drive-by shooting in Florida road on Friday night. Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the National Universities Commission (NUC), has ordered the management of universities across the country to shut down activities for students to participate in the poll. The directive was confirmed in a letter addressed to vice-chancellors of all universities and directors of inter-university centres by the NUC. Operators of regulated bus and ferry services have appealed to Lagosians for the recalibration of their validators to effect a 50 per cent fare cut directed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. According to the press release made available by the Lagos state commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the new fare will come into effect on Friday, 10th February 2023.
